Disconnecting QuickBooks Online

How to end NextGen’s access to your QuickBooks Online company, and what happens to your information when you do.

How to disconnect

You can end our access to your QuickBooks Online company at any time, from inside QuickBooks Online. You do not need to contact us first, and you do not need our permission.

  • Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an administrator.
  • Open Settings (the gear icon) and choose Manage apps.
  • Find NextGen Accounting Connector in the list of connected apps — that is the QuickBooks app name for this connection, operated by NextGen Controller & CFO Advisory.
  • Choose Disconnect and confirm.

The disconnection takes effect at Intuit immediately. Our platform detects that the authorization has been revoked the next time it is used, records the connection as revoked, and reads nothing further from your books.

If you would rather we did it

Email support@ngcontrollers.com from the address associated with your engagement and ask us to disconnect. We will disconnect the connection on our side and confirm in writing. There is currently no disconnect button inside the NextGen client portal — the two paths above are the ways to disconnect today.

What happens to your information

  • The stored credential. Disconnecting destroys the encrypted QuickBooks authorization credential we hold. We keep no plaintext copy of it and there is no export path for it.
  • The audit record. A record that the connection existed and was disconnected is retained. It contains no credential material.
  • Financial information already imported. It remains part of your engagement records so the analyses prepared for you stay reviewable. If you would like it deleted as well, say so in your email to support@ngcontrollers.com and we will action a deletion request. Deletion requests are honored subject to applicable legal, contractual, security and record-retention requirements.

Our Privacy Policy describes in full what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Reconnecting later

To reconnect, sign in to your NextGen client portal and start the QuickBooks connection again. Reconnecting requires a fresh authorization from a QuickBooks administrator — a previous disconnection cannot be undone from our side.
